New Leadership to Expand Inclusive Programmes and Strategic Partnerships

Hong Kong – Rugby For Good (RFG), the official charity partner of Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR), has announced the appointment of Rocky Chow as its full-time Executive Director. Chow will lead RFG’s mission to empower underserved communities through innovative rugby-based initiatives, including “Rugby for Children with ADHD”, “Tackling Language”, and “Jockey Club Rugby United”, which harness sport to promote inclusion and bridge social divides.

Rocky Chow, a seasoned leader with a decade of experience across HKCR and RFG in roles spanning community engagement, marketing, and strategic partnerships, takes the helm during a period of significant growth for the charity. His appointment aligns with RFG’s vision to leverage sport (rugby) as a tool for social cohesion, resilience and equitable opportunity, supported by collaborations with the likes of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Kadoorie Foundation, Laureus Sport for Good and ChildFund Rugby, among others.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Transformative Programmes: RFG’s pioneering initiatives, such as “Rugby for Children with ADHD” (Asia’s first parent/child rugby programme addressing ADHD) and “Tackling Language” (building confidence through second-language engagement), have impacted 30,000+ lives since 2013.

  • Continued Alignment with HKCR: Rocky and his team will ensure RFG’s social impact goals complement HKCR’s Sustainability Plan, fostering synergy between elite sport and grassroots development.

Leadership Transition Context:

Rocky’s dedicated focus on RFG follows HKCR’s recent recruitment for a new Executive Director for Domestic Rugby, enabling both organisations to benefit from specialised leadership. He will collaborate closely with HKCR to maintain continuity across community programmes, including school partnerships and youth development projects.

Powerhouse Quotes:

Rocky doesn’t just talk about change – he builds it. Under his leadership, RFG will redefine how sport tackles societal challenges,”

Ben Harris, Chair of Rugby For Good.

This transition reflects our commitment to excellence in both sport and social responsibility. RFG’s work under Rocky’s direction will remain integral to HKCR’s strategic goals,
Chris Brooke, Chairman of Hong Kong China Rugby.

“RFG’s work is central to HKCR’s vision of using sport to build a stronger, more inclusive society. Rocky’s appointment ensures our communities will continue to thrive through rugby’s unique values,”

James Farndon, CEO of Hong Kong China Rugby.

This isn’t just a job – it’s a calling. We’re scaling programmes that turn rugby pitches into classrooms for resilience, teamwork and hope,

Rocky Chow, Executive Director of Rugby For Good.
